The Voice of China Arc[]

When Fu Sihong brought Zhang Ye over to the office area, he and the rest of the program team introduced themselves one by one.

When Zhang Ye asked for information about the celebrity guests and key contestants of other satellite channels' singing programs, he volunteered to gather the information.

After Fu Sihong disagreed with Zhang Ye's proposal for The Voice of China, Zhang Zuo suggested modifying the format of The Voice so that it looks to the audience that the gimmick of not seeing the contestants is real, but they would manipulate things behind the scenes, but he was told by Zhang Ye to never look down on the wisdom and judgment of the masses.

When the production for The Voice started, Zhang Ye tasked him with the venue layout and equipment, which Zhang Ye required to be the best quality.[1]

After the first round of auditions, he and the rest of the program team were not optimistic about the contestants that Zhang Ye chose. He pretended to not know anything about the auditions' results when he was asked by his friend from his previous program team.

When the coaches arrived to record the theme song, Zhang Ye forgot to prepare the song due to his busy schedule so he asked Zhang Zuo to stall them for half an hour while Zhang Ye rushes to finish the song.

After the companies refused to buy The Voice's first-tier advertisements for the price Zhang Ye wants, he delegated the task of discussing with advertisers to Zhang Zuo and Ha Qiqi instead.

Zhang Zuo decided to work until midnight to finish the production of The Voice when the station forced them to broadcast one month ahead of schedule. Zhang Ye tasked him to finish the stage construction as soon as possible and to make the workers work through the night.

In the first episode's recording, as Zhang Ye was also the host of the show, if there were any conflicts or incidents during the recording, they would be handled by Assistant Directors Zhang Zuo and Ha Qiqi. When Jiang Yuan and Fu Sihong were getting impatient from waiting during the 20-minute break, Zhang Zuo was the one who explained to them that they were waiting for Qian Pingfan's parents to arrive.

He was nervous and angry when he saw the rumors that the SARFT was planning to ban The Voice, but Zhang Ye told them not to believe those rumors.

At The Voice program team's celebratory banquet, he and Ha Qiqi gave a toast to Zhang Ye for giving them a valuable lesson with his program planning. He was later contacted by one of the companies they were in discussion for the advertisements with before, and he was told by Zhang Ye to raise the price for the advertising rights by one-third.

Before the release of the first episode's viewership ratings, he unable to stay settled, feeling very nervous and full of anticipation. He kept checking his phone to see if there were any updates on the viewership ratings. He was dumbfounded when he saw that The Voice's first episode had a viewership rating of 2.01%. He later forwarded Zhang Ye's "Admiring the Mountains" on Weibo.

College Entrance Examinations Arc[]

As assistant directors, he and Ha Qiqi took on the responsibility and supervision of work in The Voice program team while Zhang Ye was on leave. He and the rest of The Voice program team panicked when they saw the news that Zhang Ye got into trouble again[2] when he was supposed to be resting at home during his two days of leave but relaxed when they found out he wasn't arrested.
