The Voice of China Arc[]
When Zhang Ye brought Chenchen to Caishikou, she instantly liked her and asked Zhang Ye to hurry up and find a partner and give them a grandson or granddaughter. She and Zhang Ye's Father watched the first episode of The Voice of China and she thought it was so great she wanted to join the competition.
After finding out that The Voice's first episode had 2.01% viewership ratings, she immediately went to the neighbor's house to brag and act cool.
She and the whole family along with Chenchen watched the broadcast of the second episode of The Voice in their home in Caishikou. When she saw how beautiful Yuan Tong was, she asked Zhang Ye's opinion of her, intending to make her son ask her out. She is worried that Zhang Ye might wed late in his life like many people in the entertainment circle who are still single in their forties.
College Entrance Examinations Arc[]
Chenchen gave the phone to her when Zhang Ye called home to tell them about his appointment as a question setter for the Beijing college entrance exam and that he won't be coming home or be contacted through his phone. He left Chenchen in their care and told them not to let her leave the house and run about.
Zhang Ye's parents and Chenchen were at home staring at the computer for news related to the Beijing college entrance exam when Zhang Ye arrived home. The next morning, she prepared breakfast for Zhang Ye but also scolded him that he should have just stayed home instead of going out and causing trouble. Because of her son's notoriety, her neighbors who would usually chat with her when they see her now pretend to not see her, as their children were part of the Beijing examinees.
She tried to wake Zhang Ye one weekend but he refused to get up and insisted on sleeping in despite having promised earlier that he would accompany her with shopping. She gave up when she saw that Zhang Ye won't get up no matter what but was suddenly speechless when he left the next moment to visit a friend.
Chenchen's Adventure Arc[]
On the day of The Voice's season finale, she and Zhang Ye's father stayed up to wait for Zhang Ye, who came home late from a celebratory feast. She and Zhang Ye's father had just finished watching the news, where all the media outlets are talking about The Voice and that the viewership ratings for the season finale broke records again, making her proud.
